So it appears that I've started a blog on one of the shittiest nights in recent Penguins history. A 9-3 fall to the Islanders. Although props to the Isles, since they were the only ones who seemed to know there was a game today. By the end of the game, the Pens had 2 players remaining on the bench. Brooks freaking Orpik had to play offense on the power play. I know we're injured guys, but wow. I can't say much for the scrums--I stopped watching early in the second after Brent Johnson gave up the 203rd goal or something like that.
Never fear, there is positive hockey news on the day! Mallards go up 4-1 over Fort Wayne (O'Conner is a tool), and Russo gets yet another win under his belt. I'm still having trouble adjusting to actually having two goalies I like on my team. Typically I dislike one of them, and even more frequently I end up hating them both, at least on the ice (listening, Penguins?).
Also today, we decided to go see The Eagle. I had been wanting to see this for a while, being a pretty big fan of Jamie Bell. It was a bit different than what I expected, but I loved it anyway. Don't go to this hoping to see epic battle scenes--it's far more focused on the story. Channing Tatum in a surprisingly believable emotional role? Yeah, I didn't think it was possible either. I recommend it, like I said, if you don't go in expecting too much from the fight scenes.
